Description
The National Digital Library of India (NDLI) Workshop 2025 was jointly organized by Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi and Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur with the objective of promoting awareness, development, and effective utilization of institutional digital repositories and digital library platforms among students, researchers, faculty members, librarians, and information professionals. Conducted under the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) initiative, the workshop focused on strengthening digital knowledge management and enhancing access to scholarly resources through modern repository technologies.
The workshop featured expert lectures, hands-on training sessions, demonstrations, and interactive discussions on digital repository creation, metadata standards, open-access initiatives, digital preservation, and the use of platforms such as Omeka for managing and showcasing institutional collections. Resource persons from IIT Kharagpur and IIT (BHU) Varanasi emphasized the growing importance of digital libraries and repository systems in supporting academic learning, research dissemination, and long-term preservation of institutional knowledge assets.
The event provided participants with practical exposure to repository management tools and encouraged the adoption of innovative digital practices in libraries and educational institutions. It also strengthened collaboration between academic institutions in advancing technology-enabled education, open knowledge sharing, and digital library services in India.
